Birsa Munda : 150 Years of Legacy Celebrated

In our college, we recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of Birsa Munda , a prominent tribal freedom fighter and revered leader who played a pivotal role in the Munda Rebellion against British colonial rule. Birsa Munda was born on November 15, 1875, in the village of Ulihatu, located in the Ranchi district of present-day Jharkhand. He is hailed as a hero and martyr for his relentless struggle for the rights of tribal communities, land, and cultural preservation. Birsa is affectionately called "Dharti Aba" (Father of the Earth) by tribal people, symbolizing his divine connection to nature and his leadership in the fight for social justice and independence. To commemorate his life and contributions, a rath yatra was organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization known for promoting nationalism and social causes. The ABVP members brought the event to our college, where they informed students and staff about Birsa Munda`s legacy, his achievements, and the impact of his leadership on India`s tribal communities. This event was a great opportunity for everyone to reflect on his immense contribution to India`s freedom struggle and the ongoing relevance of his ideals.
